In 2009 NMFD Co.1 members wanted to organize a family friendly event that our community could enjoy, while also raising funds for the company. In 2010 on Father's Day weekend with the support of our department members, NM Police Department, NM Ambulance Corps, NM DPW, NM Mayor and Council, volunteers, and our generous sponsors we hosted our first 5k event. Nearly 500 participants turned out to enjoy the 5K Run, Walk, and Kids Dash. We certainly hit some bumps in the road, but overall the event was a huge success with lots of positive feedback. In the years since, improvements have been made including an early packet pick-up, a PA announcer, and additional sponsors on-hand with pre and post race activities for adults and children. Local sponsors provide food & refreshments for all the participants to enjoy with their families. Over the years we've been blessed with awesome support & success. Every year the goal remains the same, make it a better event for our community of New Milford. We hope to see you out there.
